At first she said the tracks she saw were just wide swaths, that looked like someone had brushed the snow with a broom. These tracks are not quite that way, the snow is not as deep as it was when she first saw the tracks. . It almost looks like they are a slot and then a star. If you look at the inside track you will see where one of them took a big leap!
Have you seen these kind of tracks? These footprints are made by a raccoon, in fact several raccoons. She hears them jumping on her gate at night at the front balcony of her house. They dig up the buried birdseed that was put out before it snowed and eat their favorite seeds. She says that everyone leaves the very hard white round seeds. The birds don't like them, nor the raccoons. When she looked to see where they went, she saw they came from one neighbor's house to her's and then to the neighbor on the other side. They are probably pretty happy and full by the time they go home and have been to the whole neighborhood, sort of like trick or treaters.
She was surprised yesterday morning because the round seeds were gone when she looked out the window, but she knew who came to eat them. How do you think she knew? She smelled this animal rather that recognizing the tracks. Who do you think this was?
